Privacy Policy

Information we use

• Account information. Google Firebase Authentication processes your email address, account identifier, protected password credential, verification status and account timestamps. ReelNav does not receive your readable password.
• Precise location. With your permission, ReelNav uses location for vessel position, tracks, waypoints and nearby conditions. Tracking you enable can continue while another app is open or the screen is locked. Android shows an ongoing tracking notification. Turn Track off to stop recording.
• Catch records. Catches save on your device and privately sync to your signed-in account using Google Cloud Firestore when connected. Records may include species, quantity, size, bait, notes, catch time, precise catch coordinates, conditions and references to locally stored photos. Photo image files are not uploaded by catch sync.
• Photos and local records. Photos, tracks, routes, waypoints, fishing spots, downloaded charts and preferences are stored on your device. Camera and photo access supports photos you choose to add. Photos taken in the app may also be saved to your gallery. Exports, device backups and sharing you choose may create additional copies.
• Security and connection information. Firebase and app-verification services process identifiers and connection information needed for authentication, abuse prevention and service operation, including IP addresses and app/device integrity information.

Services and location-based requests

ReelNav requests charts, forecasts, radar, tides, currents and related information from NOAA services and supporting imagery from USGS services. Requests may include the coordinates or map area you select. These providers receive normal connection information, including your IP address. Visiting this website also sends normal connection information to our hosting providers.

Google Firebase provides account authentication, private catch storage and app verification. PatternCast is coming soon; its monitoring and notifications are not offered in this release. If you previously used a test version, stored monitoring preferences, device notification tokens and generated forecasts may still be associated with your account until deleted.

Your choices

You can manage location and photo permissions in your phone settings, stop track recording in ReelNav, delete individual catch records, and export records before removing them. Account features require sign-in. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your cloud account or synced catches.

Retention and deletion

Account and synced catch information is retained until you delete it or request deletion. Deleting a catch while offline queues its cloud removal for the next successful connection. Local records remain until removed in the app, app storage is cleared, or the app is uninstalled; exported copies, gallery photos and device backups must be managed separately.

Account deletion removes your authentication account, cloud catch records and any stored PatternCast monitoring records. A restricted deletion marker containing the former account identifier and deletion-request time is retained to prevent old devices from restoring deleted cloud records. It contains no email, catch content, photo or location and currently has no automatic expiration.

Use Menu → Account → Delete Account, or follow our account and data deletion instructions without reinstalling the app. We may verify account ownership before acting on an email request. Local and exported copies are not remotely erased. Service providers may retain security or operational records under their own retention policies; information required by law may be retained for that purpose.

Security

Account and sync connections use encryption in transit and access controls. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed perfectly secure. Protect access to your device, email account and backups.

Children and policy changes

ReelNav is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We may update this policy as ReelNav changes and will update the date above.
